Weather blamed for multiple crashes on Highway 91

On Jan. 18, 2024, at approximately 3:20 p.m., deputies from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 91 between Humphrey and Lindsay for the report of numerous vehicle crashes, one which included several vehicles.

On Jan. 18, 2024, at approximately 3:20 p.m., deputies from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 91 between Humphrey and Lindsay for the report of numerous vehicle crashes, one which included several vehicles.

At this time the area was experiencing severe winter weather conditions, which included snowfall and winds gusting up to 47 mph causing whiteout conditions and in areas zero visibility.

Due to the severe weather conditions and the unknown extent of vehicles involved in crashes, stuck or broke down, as well as unknown possible injuries to motorists, the Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of both the Lindsay and Humphrey Fire and Rescue Departments.
