St. Francis was just minutes from turning the Class D-2 state tournament upside down, but missed shots and a turnover down the stretch allowed Shelton to escape with a 65-59 win March 6 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The first round matchup pitted No. 1 seed Shelton vs No. 8 St. Francis, but it felt like 1 vs. 1A.
“I don’t think we melted, but credit to them, they made the plays,” HSF head coach Eric Kessler said.
