Shirley Ann Fischer, 94, of Columbus, Neb., formerly of Humphrey, Neb., died Friday, May 10, 2024, at her home in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Humphrey with Father Stan Schmit celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 p.m. with a p.m. vigil service, all at the church. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time, also at the church.
Shirley Ann Fischer was born on Oct. 30, 1929, to Tony and Irene (Bender) Schaecher in Humphrey. She attended school in Humphrey and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis in 1947. On April 26, 1949, Shirley was united in marriage to Alvin Fischer at St. Francis Catholic Church. The couple made their home on the farm until moving in to Humphrey in 1960. Shirley worked as a beautician out of her home, both on the farm and in town.
