1 injured in 2-vehicle wreck, driver flees scene

On Aug. 31, at approximately 3:30 p.m. deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highways 81 and 91.

The investigation revealed that a 2022 Ford Bronco, operated by Jeffery Speidel, 55 of Norfolk, had been traveling southbound on Highway 81. As Speidel was attempting to turn westbound onto Highway 91, his vehicle struck another southbound vehicle, a 2011 Dodge Ram that was operated by Eric Scarbrough, 37, of Lincoln.

Witnesses to the accident advised that Speidal had left the scene on foot and was later located by deputies in a bean-field northwest of the 81-91 junction. Speidal was transported to the Columbus Community Hospital by Humphrey Rescue.
