When I started teaching in the fall of 2003, this year's seniors had not been born. They would not come into the world for 3 to 4 years from when I first stepped into a classroom. So many things have changed during their lifetimes, and so much more will change after they graduate, attend college, get jobs and begin living life as adults.
When I was driving home from Columbus a few weeks ago, I glanced at the horizon and saw the hulking white windmills off to the east. Twenty years ago they were not there. The wind farm near Petersburg has only been in place for about 15 years. I don't see quite as many semis pulling trailers with the long blades on them these days, but I also don't think the days of the windmill are over, especially if Kamala Harris is elected president.
