Students at St. Francis Elementary

Each year in September students at St. Francis Elementary are challenged to read as many books as they can, taking AR tests on each book read and earning as many AR points as they can from the first to the 30th. The winners (pictured above) are awarded with Starburst candies that are placed in a jar each time a student in their class takes a test. The winners in each grade are Hartley Werner (1st); Locklyn Korus & Sage Fisher (2nd) tied with 18 books read a piece; Taysen Eisenmenger (3rd) both took the most tests (16) and earned the most points; In the 4th grade, Ty Hassenstab took the most tests and Gunnar Classen earned the most points; For the 5th grade, Blakeley Olmer earned the most points while Claire Hellbusch took the most tests. Finally, in the 6th grade, Samantha Kuchar took the most tests while Eli Schumacher scored the most points. The Starburst Challenge serves as a springboard for encouraging students to read each year. It is sponsored by Michael and Lori Wegener.
