Stop, quick strike set tone for Defenders' win

It took Howells-Dodge 14 to plays to drive to the Archangels 4, only to be stuffed on fourth down. It took the Defenders 3 plays to score.

That first-quarter scenario set the tone for the Defenders’ 36-6 win here Friday to claim the Class D2-3 District title.

“It was a big stop, they kind of came out and hit us in the mouth a bit there,” ACHS head coach Eric Kessler said. “To get a stop inside the 10-yard line was big and a huge momentum change. It helped us get our feet under us a little bit.”
