There comes a time when you stop measuring the years by your children’s milestones.
For me, I think that came when Claire and Alek headed to college.
They had graduated high school, the last right of passage as kids, and they were becoming young adults. They would stay there until graduating, then they would get jobs, and the next milestones were still years away in marriage and becoming parents.
