By Nyla Kesler A culture of participation

I’ve been at St. Francis School, now ACHS, all of my school years, and one thing that stands out to me is how involved our students are. Looking at the numbers, we have a 100 percent involvement rate in extracurricular activities across the entire high school. Every student participates in at least one of our teams or clubs, whether in one or more sports, robotics, one-act, speech or band. Many are involved in more than one activity, too.

Extracurriculars are important because they give us the chance to build skills, reduce stress and learn about commitment and teamwork. These activities are an essential part of what makes our school culture unique and what helps bring us together as a community.
