Cornhusker raising rates

Cornhusker Public Power District’s Board of Directors voted unanimously at the November board meeting to pass an overall average rate increase of 3.0 percent for 2025.

This is a combination of a slight increase to CPPD’s base rates, CPPD’s removal of the production cost adjustment (PCA) credit, and a slight increase from our wholesale power provider. Variations in a customer’s bill will depend on individual usage patterns and fluctuations in the weather.

“It’s frustrating to have reached a point where our rates will increase for 2025. I was very hopeful that we could continue to keep rates flat for yet another year; however, continued increases in costs associated with materials, tools, equipment, wages, and insurance are driving this increase. The last time we had a rate increase was in 2016. We understand this adds to the financial stress so many are already experiencing. The board and staff are committed to providing outstanding customer service and working hard to ensure your costs stay reasonable and that electricity remains a great value for our customers,” CEO/GM, Clay Gibbs, said.
