The two familiar foes stood toe-to-toe, but in the end Falls City Sacred Heart outlasted St. Francis 33-29 in overtime Friday night in the Class D2 girls state basketball semifinal at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

“It was a knock-down-dragout game. That’s kind of what we figured it was going to be,” St. Francis head coach Bryan Reichmuth said. “That’s kind of our history. I’d like to play them on Saturday instead of Friday.”

The Flyers led 27-23 heading to the fourth quarter after outscoring the Irish 10-6 in the third after a free throw from Hannah Baumgart and basket by Isabel Preister.
