There are nearly 5 billion social media users across the globe. That means 60 percent of the global population has an account on at least one social media platform. In 2022, the average time spent on social media was two hours and thirty minutes a day. However, when Tech Jury, an online research company, looked deeper into app usage, they found some interesting data.
For example, China and India have the highest number of social media users. On average, Nigerians lead the way with total social media usage with just over four hours per day. The average time teenagers spend on social media has increased one and a half times since 2020. Tweens (8-12) spend, on average, five and a half hours on social media. Teenagers 13-19 spend eight hours and forty minutes on social media. Adults 20-29 spend over five hours per day on social media.
