Every time I drive through the town I recognize a lot of places from years gone by, and yet they’ve changed so much they are barely recognizable.

I spent fifth through 11th grade in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and now, ironically, my son, Alek, and his wife, Anna, and their little one, Lyla, make their home there. Sometimes it still seems so hard to believe my hometown became his, but he can thank Anna for that.
