LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

That’s the question I was often asked when serving as the local mayor. Each year about 50 mayors would meet to discuss the successes and the challenges of our communities. Was it the jobs, location, community amenities, schools? The consensus was always the schools were the key to community success. Successful schools’ equal successful communities. Our school District #67 serves a large portion of northern Platte County including Creston, Tarnov, Lindsay and Humphrey. Each of these communities depends on District #67 to educate our future citizens. We are fortunate to have three very successful schools within our district. Our future depends on the continued success of the school systems. We are being asked to vote on a bond issue that will support the future of District #67. A vote for the bond issue will mean continued success of our schools. The future is for us to decide.

So, what makes our communities so successful? I believe it is the will of the people. I believe we have people who understand the need to look forward. I believe we have people who understand that you can have a community that grows and flourishes or you can wither and die. Stand with me in supporting the District #67 bond issue for a new school building.
