We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Vira “Bubby” James Heesacker, 67, of Creston, Neb. He passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Neb.

Visitation was on Friday, May 3, from 5-7 p.m, followed by a Vigil Service at 7 p.m, all at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Interment in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Humphrey and a celebration of life was held on June 29, details TBD.

Vira was born on Sept. 22, 1956, to Victor and Vivian (Mueller) Heesacker in Norfolk. He grew up in Humphrey as a farm boy and it never left him as an adult. He started employment at Behlen Manufacturing in 1978 and retired in May of 2020.

Vira “Bubby” was creative in so many ways, cooking, sewing, gardening, and always had a way with words. He had a very productive life, never a time when he did not have a project waiting for him. He enjoyed fishing, singing, playing guitar, star gazing, and being a dad. Vira “Bubby” has always been supportive, to everyone. Whether it was a stranger with a car problem or family, he treated you like family whether or not you were his blood relation.

A proud man, gave everything his all. His jokes, lectures, and pride will surely be missed. Always and forever loved, never forgotten.
