Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 Thursday, Aug. 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Visitation is being held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, with a 7 p.m. Vigil service, all occurring at the Church. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment is being held at St. Patrick/ Joseph Cemetery.

Beverly Joyce (Petersen) Wemhoff was born in Superior, Neb., to Ethel Jane (Nelson) and Hartley Petersen on December 1, 1948. She attended school in Ruskin, Neb., graduating in 1966 from Ruskin High School. After graduating from high school, Bev attended college at Hastings Tech graduating as an accredited Records Technician in Dec, 1969. In 1972 she met John Wemhoff at the wedding of her good friend and John’s brother. John and Bev were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Platte Center, Neb., on September 29, 1973. John and Bev made their home in Platte Center where they raised five children, and they worked side by side growing Wemhoff Refrigeration, Inc.

Bev was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 283 where she was serving as President, would help with Memorial Day services, and organize the Poppy sales campaign along with help with the selection for the Girls State representative.

She was also a long time member of the Modern Mrs. Club. This group of ladies fundraised to help build Elmwood Park, and plant flowers for beautification of Platte Center as some of their activities. This group of ladies are always there for each other helping and supporting each other in early years, and in the later stages of their lives. They have banded together to be a support system for each other, and never fail to take care of each other, and every one’s families.

Bev helped to organized the Annual 4th of July Parade for years, and was a long time caretaker of the Platte Center Auditorium.

She enjoyed being a part of the bowling Leagues in Platte Center, and later at Westbrook Lanes with the Thursday Cheers ladies.

Bev’s love of music came thru in the piano lessons she taught, the weddings and funerals she played the organ for, and her contribution thru playing the organ and organization of music for church services every weekend at St. Joseph’s Church in Platte Center. She was also an active member of the church choir for many years.

She was also a past member

of the St. Joseph’s Parish Council.

Bev enjoyed her music, reading, sewing, and spending time with Grandkids, family, and friends.

Bev was a selfless woman who battled cancer for many many years, and thru it all she relied on her faith, smiled, and said “I’m fine”. She was only worried about how her illness effected her family and those around her. In her last few weeks, she finally let her family and friends take care of her for a change. She was a super hero, and will forever be our “Wonder Woman.”

5 Grand Children: Dylan, Colton, Jane, Hannah, and Jacob 4 Step Grandchildren, and 6 step great Grandchildren Brother: Roger Petersen – Hardy, Neb.

Sister: Rosann (Tim) Gettis – Hillsboro, Ore.

Brother: Arlo (Ava) Petersen – Ruskin, Neb.

Brother: Wayne (DeeAnn) Petersen – Nora, Neb.
