Norma Korth

Norma Korth, 96 years, of Fremont, Neb., passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at Nye Legacy. Norma was born on September 10, 1928, in Lindsay, Neb., to Anton “Tony” and Margaret (Pfeifer) Nienaber.

She attended Holy Family Catholic High School in Lindsay and graduated in 1946. After high school she went on to attend nursing school in Grand Island, Nebraska, which she graduated in 1951. On Jan. 10, 1951, Norma married Robert J. Korth. Together they moved back to Lindsay where they farmed prior to moving to Omaha in 1956. In 1960 they moved to Fremont. She was an RN at Fremont Area Medical Center from 1978 until her retirement in March of 1991.

Norma was a member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont and was a member of Catholic Daughters, former EME and CCD teacher and the New Life Choir all at St. Patrick Church.

She is survived by sons, James A. (Kristin) Korth of Bozeman, MT, Joe G. Korth of Greeley, CO, Bernard R. (Tina) Korth of Fremont, NE, Donald L. (Patti) Korth of Omaha, NE, Tony R. (Deanna) Korth of Gretna, NE, Dr. Ken (Dr. Debra) Korth of Fayetteville, AR, and Ed (Missy) Korth of Schuyler, NE; daughters, Kathleen Ann (Doug) Hartmann of Fremont and Joan Marie (Steve) Krause of Ogallala, NE; brothers, Msgr. Robert Nienaber of Omaha, NE and Dr. John (Joan) Nienaber of Hastings, NE; sisters, Clareen Prothman of Albion, NE, Sr. Jane Nienaber OSF of Downers Grove, IL, and Mary Ann (Franz) Haas of Regensburg Germany; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Nienaber of Lindsay, NE 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; twin siblings Joseph and Mary

Nienaber; brothers, Jerry and Harry Nienaber; sisters, Betty and Phyllis Zoucha; daughtersin- law Rene and Pam Korth; grandsons, Matt Hartmann and Thomas Krause; great-grandsons, Jacob Gurnsey and Camper Korth and brother-in-law, Ray Prothman.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Saturday, October 5, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Fr. Walter Nolte, Fr. David Korth and Fr. Bryan Ernest will officiate. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M., Friday with a presentation by the Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard at 6:45 PM followed by a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 7PM all at St. Patrick’s in Fremont.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church or family choice.
