Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Visitation was Friday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church. Burial is in Sts. Joseph & Patrick Cemetery.

Matthew F. Schumacher was born March 2, 1922, in Platte Center to Frank and Margaret (Bender) Schumacher. He graduated from Platte Center High School in 1939. He then went to work at the bomber factory in Omaha.

On May 5, 1948, Matt was united in marriage to Thelma Wegener at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. They took many trips, both stateside and abroad, and enjoyed 76 years of marriage.

Matt was a farmer before starting Schumacher Irrigation in 1956. He served as president until his retirement. Matt worked hard in the growth of the business and has seen irrigation develop from ditch/flood irrigation to towlines to center pivots. Matt was proud of this continuous business relationships, and the friends he made along the way.

Matt was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, watching the stock market, and thinking outside the box. Matt was on the Columbus Community Hospital board and served as president. He also served on the Parish council, District 24 School board, and the Platte County Redistricting

School Board.

Matt is survived by: Wife: Thelma Catherine Son: Terrence Schumacher Daughter: Susan (David Bracht) Schumacher Son: Timothy (Colleen) Schumacher Sister-in-law: Bonnie Schumacher 5 Grandchildren: Thomas, Victoria, Theresa, Benjamin, Abigail He is preceded in death by: His parents Son: Thomas Gerard Schumacher Brothers: Carl, LeRoy (Alvina) and Ralph (Alma) Infant sisters: Lorraine and Ramona.
