Neil Schumacher was born April 19, 1957, in Norfolk, Neb., to Alvin and Mary Theresa (Noonan) Schumacher. He graduated from Lindsay Holy Family High School in 1975. Neil was a “jack of all trades” and farmed with his brothers until his retirement this last year. On Oct. 2, 1993, Neil was united in marriage to Shelley Workman on the farm in Lindsay. He enjoyed going cruising, Star Trek, John Deere, and building “box houses” in his basement. The happiest day in his life was Aug. 11, 2014, when they were able to adopt their two children. They were his pride and joy, and he loved being a father, and would do anything for his kids.
Neil was diagnosed with an inoperable brain aneurysm in 2018. On Monday, February 17, 2025, his aneurysm broke. Through the work of the doctors and staff at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and Live on Nebraska, Neil provided a fighting chance for up to 100 others with the gift of organ
and tissue donation.
