Delmer Leo Veik
He was born August 14, 1933, in Petersburg, Neb., to his parents Henry and Amelia (Overman) Veik. Delmer received his education from St. Mary’s Catholic School and St. Francis Catholic High School in Humphrey, Nebraska. He married Marilyn Jostes on Feb. 4, 1961.
Delmer worked in the transportation field in various roles including truck driver, dispatcher, and terminal manager. When he retired, he and Marilyn purchased a farm in Runnells. Delmer had always dreamed of being a farmer and enjoyed farming for 30 years.
He was a proud member of the Runnells Lions Club for 20 years and Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church for 30 years.
Delmer is survived by his wife, Marilyn Veik; children, Gerald (Linda) Veik, Glenn Veik, Teresa (Brian) Michelson, Janell (Mario) Veik; grandchildren, Jeff (Courtney) Hartwig, Justin Hartwig, Chantel (Luis) Veik, Micaela Veik, Amadeo (Abby) Chua-Carrion, Dylan Veik, Holly Michelson, Rose Michelson, Dane (Mackenzie) Michelson, Janna Veik, Anthony Veik, Natalie Veik; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Madilyn, Ada, Olivia, Noah, and Isla; and siblings, Valinda Dicken, David Veik, Flavian (Monica) Veik, Lauren (Joann) Veik, and Pat (Millie) Veik.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lanette Welton; parents, Henry and Amelia; siblings, Earl Veik, Floyd Veik, Henry Veik, Betty Lou Veik, and Mildred Veik (infant); sistersin- law, Joann Veik and Marlene Veik; and brother-in-law, Cecil Dicken.
Service was held Monday, June 19, 2023, at Ss John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue S, Altoona, Iowa. Family greeted friends one hour prior starting at 10 a.m. with mass of Christian Burial starting at 11 a.m. Burial occurred following at Xenia Cemetery, 30200-30908 130th Court, Woodward, Iowa.
