Edward A. Hittner was born Feb. 5, 1941 in Cornlea, Neb., to Edward F. And Dorothy (Reinhart) Hittner. He grew up in Cornlea and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis High School. He started at Creighton University before finishing his bachelor’s degree at Wayne St. Ed returned to Creighton where he received his masters degree.
Ed was united in marriage to Mary Gunderson on August 17, 1968 in Birchwood, Wis.
Ed served as the Principal for Scotus Central Catholic for 7 years, was the PR Manager for Torin for 21 years and served as the Purchasing and Personnel Manager for 7 years at Orion.
Ed loved fishing, playing cards, and golfing. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where he served as an EME, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of a professional purchasing and personnel managers organization, and the Sertoma Club.
Ed is survived by his wife Mary Hittner, daughter Karen “Kari” (Tim) Gleason of O’Neill, Neb., son Brian (Nikki) Hittner of Washington, D.C., son Andrew “Andy” (Zoey) Hittner, and 5 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister Marilyn, and 1 brother Neal.
In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorials to Scotus Central Catholic High School or to the wishes of the family.
