Catherine 'Kate' E. Goering
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Catholic Church will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Stan Schmit celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 p.m., with a rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., all at St. Francis Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials may be directed to those of the donor's choice.
Catherine “Kate” E. Goering was born March 9, 1929, in St. Paul, Neb., to Joseph and Balbina (Zoucha) Rosenthal. She graduated from Platte Center High School and on March 7, 1950, was united in marriage to Dean Goering. Kate and Dean loved to go dancing with friends at the ballroom in Utica, Nebraska. She was an amazing gardener and canned much of her produce. Kate loved to cook and was known for her fresh baked bread and pies. Visitors were always welcome, and her pantry was always full. No one ever left hungry. Kate loved her grandchildren and would sing to them often. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, and an occasional trip to the casino. Catherine is survived by: Daughter – Belinda (Dave) Macken of Platte Center, Neb.
Son – Jack (Jane) Goering of Columbus, Neb.
Daughter – Kim (Carl) Jarosz of Humphrey, Neb.
Daughter – Tammy (Glen) Weidner of Humphrey, Neb.
16 Grandchildren, 40 great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren Brother – Bob Rosenthal of Portland, Ore.
