David was born Feb. 4, 1932, in Lindsay, Neb., to Henry and Rose (Borer) Wiese. He attended Lindsay Holy Family Grade School through the 8th grade. David enlisted in the United States Army on April 1, 1952, and was honorable discharged on March 6, 1954. He took his base training at the 101 Airborne Infantry Division at Breckinridge, Kentucky. From Sept. 9, 1952, to March of 1954, Dave served in the 124th Armor Ordnance Tank Division in Germany, working on M47 tanks.

After David’s honorable discharge, he returned to Nebraska where he was united in marriage to Delores Arlt on August 31, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church. They lived in Omaha, Neb., for a short time before they moved back to the farm for the next 30 years. They then moved to Paradise Valley, Arizona. There Dave worked at the T.P.C. Golf Course, home of the largest-attended tournament in the world, the fan-favorite Waste Management Phoenix Open. While in Paradise Valley, Dave also did custodial work at St. Joan of Arch Catholic Church. In 2000 they left Arizona and moved back to Lindsay.

Dave enjoyed playing Pitch, and always had a joke up his sleeve. He belonged to many card clubs, loved Legion Baseball, going dancing every weekend, and visiting with anyone who would lend an ear. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Rotherham Post 261 where he had served as commander and post adjutant. He was past secretary of the Lindsay rural fire board before moving to Arizona. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
