Sometimes you have to remind people of what they already know — or should know.

One of the things I miss most about my dad is something that never happened.

A business and homes were raided, and property confiscated.

We had a refresher course last weekend.

Every time I drive through the town I recognize a lot of places from years gone by, and yet they’ve changed so much they are barely recognizable.

That’s the question I was often asked when serving as the local mayor. Each year about 50 mayors would meet to discuss the successes and the challenges of our communities. Was it the jobs, location, community amenities, schools? The consensus was always the schools were the key to community success. Successful schools’ equal successful communities. Our school District #67 serves a large portion of northern Platte County including Creston, Tarnov, Lindsay and Humphrey. Each of these communities depends on District #67 to educate our future citizens. We are fortunate to have three very successful schools within our district. Our future depends on the continued success of the school systems. We are being asked to vote on a bond issue that will support the future of District #67. A vote for the bond issue will mean continued success of our schools. The future is for us to decide.

It’s a little surreal to see your kids have kids.

July 14 would have been my parent’s 72nd wedding anniversary.

Thank you for your questions regarding the proposed facility project. These are great questions that we want to make sure get answered, as there might be other district patrons with similar questions.

I have questions on who is responsible for the infrastructure if the new school is built. Who is responsible for water and sewer? Who is responsible for streets? Will the school land be annexed to the city? Will the tree and grass disposal yard be moved? Paul Eisenmenger
